It had been a long time since I was at Dairy Lane and it was always on my list of places to return to. I had an excellent lunch on the patio and this time opted for an early breakfast on the Sunday of a long weekend. Thinking that many people would target a 9am meetup at the restaurant, the two of us opted for an 8:45am meetup to beat the rush (and we were right!). With the drizzly, chilly weather, no one was eating out on the patio so there was very limited space inside the restaurant. I think there were two tables of 4 and perhaps 5 tables of 2? The people who were waiting for tables waited outside under the canopy, drinking unlimited coffee until tables cleared out. They don’t take reservations here, and I understand why.
G ordered the Classic Breakfast for $15, with 2 eggs any style, red potato hash browns, toast with a choice of: maple pork sausage; chorizo sausage; apple chicken sausage; naturally cured bacon; or fresh tomato & avocado. She chose the GF bread and the apple chicken sausage (all the sausages were GF, woot!). I actually didn’t ask her how her meal was but she couldn’t finish it all because she was too full! I also didn’t get a photo of her plate…
I ordered the smoked salmon and avocado Eggs Benedict for $18.50 with red potato hash browns, 2 poached eggs, toasted english muffin and hollandaise. The hash browns were so good! I asked if they drizzled them with vinegar to give them a salt and vinegar punch but the server said no, they don’t. So, I’m not sure what gives them their subtle kick, but both of us thought there was something unique about the potatoes. My eggs benny was delicious as well… you know a restaurant is good if they can make a kick-ass eggs benny.
And so, Dairy Lane remains on my list as a place to return to!
